Vagabonding with Kids: Brazil has been named a Foreword Indies Finalist in the Humor category. This is incredibly exciting, because Foreword is a tough one. Brazil was exciting, too, because there are lots of things there that can kill you. Here’s the scoop on the book…
The Turners are on the road again in a raucous continuation of Vagabonding with Kids, exploring Brazil from the Amazon rain forest to Rio’s famed Copacabana Beach. But this time the in-laws are along for the ride, and three generations have to survive close quarters, radioactive beaches, and jungle hammocks for accommodations. Armed with little knowledge of Portuguese, but a great appreciation for the Brazilian national drink, the nomadic family finds adventure (and laughter) at every turn.
This isn’t my first rodeo with Foreword awards. Vagabonding with Kids: Australia was a finalist, and Vagabonding with Kids was a finalist and a medal winner.
I must be doing something right, which is ironic, as most of my material centers on all of the things that I do wrong.
The Foreword winners will be announced in June. Whether or not I win, I’m happy to have made it this far.
But don’t get me wrong.
I really want to win.
